Biography:
Matt Young is an American-born, Australian stage and screen actor living in Brisbane, Australia.
Matt is best known for his television appearance as navigator James Cook in the multiple award winning CAPTAIN COOK: OBSESSION AND DISCOVERY for Australia’s ABC, New Zealand’s South Pacific Pictures and Canada’s Ferns Productions. Other tv credits include the Hallmark Channel’s A SUMMER TO REMEMBER and PEARL IN PARADISE, HBO’s THE PACIFIC, TBS/HBO Max’s WRECKED, and COMEDY, INC.
Film credits include GAYBY BABY, THE OTHER SIDE OF HEAVEN 2, and short films including DANNY, LIFE COACH and XYXY.
Matt is the founder of Tukuna Acting Club, established in Suva, Fiji in 2015. In Australia, he has taught for Sydney’s Darlo Drama, The Hub Studio, NIDA Open Programme, MEAA Professional Programme and Brisbane’s The Creative’s Hub, as well as directing for Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music in Mackay.
In Fiji, he was the national acting trainer for Film Fiji, and served as location casting director for Netflix’s #blackAF, Hallmark’s PEARL IN PARADISE, and UNICEF’s PACIFIC KIDS FOOD REVOLUTION.
